Personalized Trays
Do you ever find yourself needing to get someone a gift, but racking your brain to come up with something fun and unique that they’ll love? Here’s your solution!
When my brother-in-law got engaged, I wanted to get him and his new fiancé something to celebrate! I didn’t want to go with the typical Mr. & Mrs. décor, as they were sure to get plenty of that! He likes whiskey {bourbon? IDK Matt it’s all the same to me, okay?} and she’s a wine lover, so I decided to put together a little gift basket involving the two. It included a bottle of red wine, a bottle of whiskey {?}, glasses, and this fun, personalized display tray! {Disclaimer… Gotta give credit where credit is due. I didn’t have my cricut at the time of this project, so my super fabulous cousin Mckendree helped me cut this one out on hers. You rock, sister}
That same year, my mom & dad purchased the cutest condo ever down at the Lake of the Ozarks. They’d been on the hunt for a long time and one finally came available in the right location! So gifts were a must. So, I got to work creating them a cute little sign to help personalize their new home on the other side of the river!
To create these trays, I used a lot of similar items as the WELCOME HOME door hangers. Head on over to that post for additional detail on the materials used!
A pre-cut board {You can find a ton of options at Menards of all shapes and sizes. Hobby Lobby has great options as well!}
Stain
Vinyl
Top coat for protection
Hardware of your choice {Hobby Lobby and Amazon are both great places to find cute, inexpensive options}
Here’s how ya do it:
Stain your board.
Once it’s dry and the color you like, apply your vinyl/free hand your wording, etc.
Apply your top coat {PRO TIP: If you’re working outdoors, do not leave this to dry in direct sunlight. It will cause the wording to bubble up and peel}
Drill holes for your hardware and attach it!
All done!
If you create one of these yourself, send me some pictures of your final project! I’d love to see it! If you’d rather not go through the hassle, shoot me a message. I’d be happy to create something for you!
Xoxo, Shelbi.
