Make it stand out.

IT’S A GIRL!! As soon as we found out we were having a baby girl, I immediately started mentally designing her nursery. Okay.. if I’m being honest, I was mentally designing a boy, girl and neutral nursery as soon as we found out we were pregnant. I can’t help myself. BUT once it was confirmed we had a sweet baby girl on the way, I knew I wanted to put together a soft, sweet, girly room with light blush pink and gold touches for some sass. Basic, maybe. But you can’t go wrong with a classic, beautiful color pallet.

I don’t have a lot of insta-worthy pics for this one, because I put this together about 3 years ago. But, luckily, I did document! And a ton of this stuff is even still available at Hobby Lobby!

When I design a room, I like to incorporate some features that make it feel one of a kind. To accomplish that in Char’s room, I really wanted to do a shiplap wall. However… we live in an older home with plaster walls, so my husband and dad quickly put the kibosh on that due to the fact all those nail holes would likely send the wall crumbling down. Not to mention the wall I chose is an exterior wall, and “my contractor” Blake {AKA my wonderful husband} complained about hitting bricks every time he was asked to hang something. So, I had to come up with an alternate plan.

Enter… wallpaper!! I found this cool peel and stick wallpaper that’s basically a giant sticker that looked so real AND for a pretty good price for wallpaper. So I went for it! Blake and I can get through most projects together successfully, but hanging wall paper for the first time with me giving a constant {gentle} reminder it has to be perfect did not sound like a good idea. So we called in the expert of all things DIY - my fav, Aunt Bizz {Or as the general public knows her.. Penny Mummey}. We were able to get this wall done in less than a couple hours and it turned out so cute! Every person that came in the room thought it was real wood! Mega win.

We had some leftover wallpaper I didn’t want to go to waste, so I decided to spice up the inexpensive bookcase I snagged from Amazon with a wallpaper backing to tie the space together and give a more custom look!

Everything came together so cute and this little room became the perfect space to bring our baby girl home to!
